156: Dining at Walt Disney World’s Monorail Resorts

All aboard the Walt Disney World monorail, your highway in the sky and your direct access to the ten delicious table-service restaurants at the three deluxe resorts near Magic Kingdom. On this week’s show, we take a grand circle tour around the Seven Seas Lagoon in order to highlight the sit-down offerings at Disney’s Contemporary, Polynesian Village, and Grand Floridian Resorts, including Chef Mickey’s, Kona Cafe, Citricos, and Victoria & Albert’s. Join us as we read the menus and take a closer look at what these dining locations have to offer.

In another Mad Chatter game, we try to guess the Disney Legend based on one-word clues. Plus, we do some Armchair Imagineering by providing our own ideas for how the Walt Disney World parks can emulate Cars Land’s Haul-O-Ween takeover and get into the Halloween spirit. Come hungry and come often!

143: The Art of the Pre-Show

An entire episode about pre-shows? Wait a minute . . . I love that idea!

This week we have an open discussion about attraction pre-shows at Walt Disney World by answering the question, “What qualities do the best pre-shows possess?” We visit rides like Tower of Terror and Soarin’ and characters including Dr. Marsh and Sergeant C4703BK2704-90210, and we give our own take on what makes a pre-show great, which WDW attractions have the best and worst pre-shows, and why pre-shows are important.

Also on this week’s show: Matt and Derek review their recent lunch at Tiffins, we share our thoughts on Cars 3 and the latest Pirates film, and we play “What’s the Score?” in which we try to guess the movie based on the names of individual tracks in that movie’s original score. Come join the fun now!

133: Top 5 Film Tie-Ins at Walt Disney World

Incorporating a film into the Disney parks is an art. It requires a delicate balance in which Imagineers must give the movie justice and the treatment it deserves without making it feel forced or shoehorned into a certain space. On this week’s show, we chat about those times when the Imagineers nailed it. From entire attractions to single, fleeting moments, we count down our top five ways in which a Disney film has been brought to Walt Disney World.

Also on this week’s episode, we have some fun with the hashtag #BadDisneySequels. Plus, Derek hosts a rematch of the game “Before and After,” in which Matt and Jeremy solve brand new clues describing mashups of various Disney films, songs, and attractions. Come play along now!

130: Underrated WDW Experiences

Dole Whips, Fantasmic, Splash Mountain, Chef Mickey’s… Some experiences at Walt Disney World appear on about every “Must List” you’ll come across online. But that doesn’t mean they are the only things worth experiencing on a Disney vacation. This week we list some of our favorite attractions, restaurants, and other experiences that don’t quite get the attention we think they deserve. From the trails in Disney’s Animal Kingdom to hilarious performers outside the parks, we break down the most underrated experiences at Walt Disney World.

As our Munch Madness tournament heats up, we reveal which restaurants you listeners picked for the Flavorful Four. (Once you’ve listened, be sure to visit our Munch Madness page and vote for the two restaurants you’d like to see face off in the championship.)

In the game “Disney Before and After,” Matt and Jeremy try to guess the Disney mashup being described. Plus, Jeremy and Derek share their slightly different takes on the new live-action Beauty and the Beast. All that and much more awaits you on episode 130 of The Mad Chatters Podcast!

125: Meeting Characters 101

You can hardly take ten steps in a Disney park without coming across a costumed character (or at least a queue of people waiting to meet one). For some, meeting characters is as much a part of a Walt Disney World vacation as seeing Cinderella Castle for the first time or riding It’s a Small World. So, what’s all the fuss about? And what do you need to know before you dive into the world of character meet and greets?

We’ve got you covered on this week’s episode, as we list the pros and cons of meeting characters, discuss our picks for the best and worst meet and greets in Walt Disney World, and even share a few of our favorite personal experiences meeting characters.

In the news, Disney has announced several opening dates of upcoming experiences. We share our thoughts on coming attractions such as Rivers of Light, Pandora, and the brand new nighttime spectacular “Happily Ever After.” Plus, Matt and Derek review two Disney Springs restaurants (Paddlefish and Boathouse), and in a Mad Chatter game, we test our knowledge of voice actors in Disney animated films. Come play along now!

120: Disney Regrets

If you could relive a specific Walt Disney World memory, would you change anything? Is there something you did that you wish you hadn’t? Is there an opportunity you wish you had taken because now it’s too late? If so, you’re not alone! This week we discuss some of our biggest Disney regrets, from restaurants we never should have tried to extinct attractions we wish we’d had the chance to experience.

But first, Matt fills us in on his weekend at Magic Kingdom. Then, in a new Mad Chatter game, Jeremy and Derek try to guess the attraction based on one-word hints describing its preshow. Plus, we play a few rounds of “The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly,” in which we share our picks for the best and worst attraction scenes in Walt Disney World. 116: The Best and Worst WDW Trends of 2016

As another year comes to an end, we take a look back at seven of Walt Disney World’s biggest trends over the last 12 months. As we focus on topics like hard-ticket events, unique dining, and the Muppets, we give our take on which of these trends have outstayed their welcome and which ones we’d love to see continue into the new year.

In another Mad Chatter game, Matt and Jeremy try to guess the animated film based on a quote pulled from Roger Ebert’s review. Plus, we sit down with choral director Mitch to talk about Candlelight Processional and what it’s like taking a high school choir to Orlando to participate. All that and more awaits you on our latest episode. Tune in now!
