What makes a deluxe resort deluxe? How do I possibly choose the right hotel for my family when there are so many options? What does beehive hair have to do with Walt Disney World? These are some of the questions we (attempt to) answer as we chat about all things hotels. We break down the three levels of WDW resort hotels, talk about our personal preferences, and weigh the benefits of staying either on property or off.

92: What’s New at WDW or (Soarin’ Around the Galactic Frozen Friendship Spectacular)

Stage shows, nighttime spectaculars, dark rides, restaurants… All sorts of new experiences have just debuted at Walt Disney World, and on this week’s show we break it all down. Derek and guest Aaron Wallace (@aaronspod | aaronwallaceonline.com) were on the scene to see attractions like Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire, Soarin’ Around the World, and Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular premiere, and they report on what opening day was like and what they thought of these new experiences. Other new offerings such as D-Luxe Burger, Amorette’s Patisserie, and Animal Kingdom after dark also take the spotlight.

Although the films of the 1980s are poorly represented in Walt Disney World, this week we discuss what was going on at Walt Disney Animation Studios during this tumultuous decade and how these movies fared at the theater. This week we discuss the live-action remakes, both past and future, and what we think about them. We even do a bit of armchair casting and talk about who we’d like to see in the upcoming Winnie the Pooh movie.

Wizards, mummies, and beer—Oh my! Butterbeer, that is. This week we report on our recent trip to that other theme park in Orlando: Universal Studios. We talk about the newest expansion, Diagon Alley, as well as the other attractions and offerings. From our Disney World perspectives, we discuss what works and what doesn’t at both Universal parks.

But first, we kick off the episode by dishing on the latest Disney news and reviewing Raglan Road in Downtown Disney. It’s another episode full of laughs, rants, and a touch of magic.
