217: Disney’s Hollywood Studios: 30 Years, 30 Properties

Disney’s Hollywood Studios is turning 30! And if the new logo and the new parking signs are any indication, then characters from Frozen, Toy Story, and Star Wars are to be the official faces of the park, moving forward. But these are just the latest franchises to join the park’s deep well of past properties and characters, and on this week’s show we’re looking back at all of them! Join us and special guest Marshal Knight for a deep dive into 30 properties that have had a presence at Disney’s Hollywood Studios since the park first opened. Think of it as a DHS yearbook…

In another Mad Chatter game, we test our knowledge of which celebrities have handprints in front of the Chinese Theater, and which do not. Plus, Jeremy shares about a park scavenger hunt he hosted, and we discuss the latest Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge news.

Be sure to find Marshal on Twitter (@Marshal_Knight) and Instagram (@marshalknight) and let him know you enjoyed hearing him on the show!

188: Let’s Talk About Marvel

Last week marked the tenth anniversary of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which kicked off with the release of Iron Man in 2008. With Avengers: Infinity War currently smashing records at the box office, and with Disney constantly adding more Marvel offerings to both the big screen and the parks, we thought it was the perfect time to do a deep dive into this huge fictional world. We’ve brought on special guest and friend of the show Teri Deel to talk all things Marvel with us, from its history with Disney, to our favorite moments in the movies, to the attractions we’re looking forward to at the parks. Come nerd out with us!

Also on this week’s show, we provide our own ideas for how Disney can bring Marvel to Walt Disney World in a big way. Plus, we chat about the cast recording of Frozen: The Broadway Musical, give a few Magic Kingdom updates, and much more!

This week we conclude our series on the movies of Walt Disney Animation Studios and their presence in the parks. 67: Coming Attractions – Looking Ahead to 2016

When and where will Star Wars Land construction begin? What kind of magic will Disney’s Animal Kingdom have to offer when it’s open after sunset? Just how long will people have to wait in line to ride Frozen Ever After in Epcot? On this week’s episode we look to the year ahead and discuss what’s in store for Disney fans, including films, merchandise, and big changes at the Disney parks.

In “It’s the Small Things, After All,” we describe a few more of our favorite hidden gems at Walt Disney World. Plus, in “Take 5,” we use just five words (or, in Jeremy’s case, six) to express our feelings on topics like the parks’ new metal detectors, the Chewbacca meet and greet, and the current state of Future World. Come ring in the new year with us on another episode of The Mad Chatters Podcast!

39: Animated Films in the Parks: The 1970s

Nowadays it might be easier to spot a disco ball or jumpsuit than it is to find any signs of the Disney films of the 1970s in Walt Disney World. This week we discuss why movies like Robin Hood, The Aristocats, and The Rescuers have such little presence in the parks . . . and why the classic character Winnie the Pooh has stood the test of time.

In our roundup of the latest Disney news, we talk poop-inspired snacks at Animal Kingdom (really!), Frozen Summer Fun at Hollywood Studios, the latest live-action announcement, and more. Plus, in another round of “It’s the Small Things After All” we gush about our favorite hidden gems in Walt Disney World.

37: Park Attendance and Ticket Prices

Disney blogs were all abuzz last week regarding two major headlines. The first involved the 2014 Theme Park Attendance Annual Report, and the second had to do with an official Disney survey that had been sent to select guests, proposing the idea for a tiered ticketing system. This week we dive headfirst into those topics and share our thoughts.

Also on show 37, Jeremy talks about his experience at the Walt Disney Hometown Museum in Marceline, Missouri. Hear about what you can find if you visit Walt’s childhood home today. Plus, join us for another round of Take Five. This week we sound off about categories like “Beauty and the Beast: Live on Stage” and those pesky birds in Frontierland, using only five words. Tune in to The Mad Chatters Podcast now!
