215: Top 15 Counter Service Restaurants in Walt Disney World

Not all theme park restaurants are created equal. One of the biggest mistakes first-time guests can make when visiting a Disney park is to stop and eat at the first place they see because they assume every restaurant will serve the same cheeseburgers and chicken nuggets. Walt Disney World actually has a large variety of counter-service options, and many of them are quite good. On this week’s show, we count down our 15 favorites across property.

In another edition of The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, we share our picks for the most well designed attraction entrances, the most unattractive, and the ones that could use a bit of work. Plus, we have some fun with the hashtag #BadDisneySequels, and in another Mad Chatter game we try to guess how much certain Disney items sold on eBay. Come play along now!

213: Mickey’s Celebration, Festival of the Arts, Kingdom Hearts, and More

In this bonus episode of the podcast (look for a brand new full episode next week!), we take a closer look at the new Disney offerings that debuted in January of this year. First, we give our take on Mickey and Minnie’s Surprise Celebration at Magic Kingdom, as well as “An Incredible Celebration” at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. In special editions of “Munchies and Merch” and “Armchair Imagineering,” we talk about the new treats and souvenirs we have our eyes on, plus we come up with ideas for a Pixar character meal at Walt Disney World.

Also on show 213, we discuss why we are so excited to attend this year’s Festival of the Arts at Epcot, and we create a Mad Chatters Playlist featuring some of our favorite tunes from Disney Theatrical productions. Plus, friend of the show Zach clues us in on Kingdom Hearts III, what to expect from the brand new video game, and why Disney fans might want to dive in to the Kingdom Hearts series if they have not already. All that and more awaits you on this episode of The Mad Chatters Podcast!

212: 60 Years of Disney Roller Coasters

2019 marks the 60th anniversary of the very first roller coaster to open at a Disney park: the Matterhorn Bobsleds. Disneyland was open for four years before it got its first coaster, and when the mountain-themed attraction debuted, it was anything but your average, off-the-shelf ride. In fact, it was the first tubular steel coaster in the world! That attraction was the first in an iconic lineup of roller coasters that would eventually be introduced at the U.S. Disney parks, and on this week’s show we work our way chronologically through all 12 of them. Join us and special guest Courtney Guth as we discuss the impact and legacy of the Disney coasters and how we feel each one succeeds as a Disney attraction.

Also on episode 212, we review some of our recent meals at Ale & Compass, Liberty Tree Tavern, and Olivia’s Cafe. Plus, we have some fun with the hashtag #DisneyfyDisney by adding Intellectual Properties to original Walt Disney World attractions and restaurants. Come join the fun!

Be sure to find Courtney online and let her know you enjoyed hearing her on the show!

208: Live-Action Films, Documentaries, and the Disney Parks

Did you know Disney released 16 live-action films between One Hundred and One Dalmatians (1961) and The Sword in the Stone (1963)? You’ve probably never met anyone whose favorite Disney film is Greyfriars Bobby, but the fact is these films hold a special place in many people’s hearts, and they make up a huge portion of the Disney film catalog.

On this week’s show, Jeff DePaoli of Dizney Coast to Coast joins us for a deep dive into Disney’s live-action films, from 1950’s Treasure Island to the upcoming live-action remake of Dumbo. We discuss the history of Walt’s interest in live action, our favorite films from this category, where these films show up in Walt Disney World, and much more! Plus, Jeremy walks us through ten Disney documentaries he especially recommends Disney fans watch.

In another round of Take 5, we use just five words to respond to categories such as “The Current Condition of WDW Monorails” and “Song Titles in Frozen 2.” Plus, we discuss the big news that was announced at this year’s Destination D. Come join the discussion now!

Be sure to check out Jeff’s podcast and let him know you enjoyed hearing him on our show: Dizney Coast to Coast.
