255: The Music of Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Join us for a musical tour of the Hollywood that never was and always will be: Disney’s Hollywood Studios! Years ago, we launched a series in which we discussed the background music and the original songs that play in each Walt Disney World park. At the time, Disney’s Hollywood Studios was mostly a construction zone, but now that the park has completed its glow-up, we figured it was high time we close out that series and talk about the background loops and original songs in areas like Sunset Boulevard, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, and more!

If you missed our other “The Music of…” episodes, you can find them here:

Show 103: The Music of Magic Kingdom

Show 128: The Music of Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Also on this week’s show, Jonathan Harvill joins us for a round of Disney Hashtags, in which we access our most juvenile, immature inner selves with the hashtag #MiddleSchoolDisney. Plus, in our Countdown to the 50th, we highlight the WDW opening-day attraction Country Bear Jamboree.

214: EPCOT Center ’82-86 and the Lost Art of Original Songs

Feel the flow, spread your golden wings, and just make believe you’re a tiny little seed, because we’re taking a look back at the original songs that debuted throughout Epcot when the park first opened in 1982. On episode 214, guest Guy Selga joins us for a discussion about songs like “Universe of Energy” and “Listen to the Land,” why these songs are so fondly remembered by fans today, and why the practice of giving attractions original songs seems to have become a lost art. Come along on our musical tour!

Also on this week’s show, we host another wacky edition of Mad Chatter Jeopardy. Plus, we break down some of the new-to-us experiences we tried at Walt Disney World last week, including the Behind the Seeds tour at Epcot and Trivia Night at Port Orleans – Riverside.

Be sure to find Guy on Twitter (@guyselga) and let him know you enjoyed hearing him on the show! Also, check out The Unofficial Guide to Disneyland for your Disneyland travel needs.

107: From Celebrations to Cyclones (And Hocus Pocus Too!)

Walt Disney World had quite a week! Just days after celebrating its 45th anniversary, the resort closed to guests for only the fourth time ever due to Hurricane Matthew. And the Mad Chatters were on the scene for all of it!

To help us report on all of the craziness, we brought in a few special guests. First, our friends David and Katie fill us in on what it was like to be trapped at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel as Hurricane Matthew made its way along the coast. They give us the scoop on how Disney handled the situation as well as share the highs and lows of being in Walt Disney World while the parks were closed.

Then, guest Aaron Wallace (@aaronspod), host of Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Pod and author of the brand new book Hocus Pocus in Focus, joins Derek to break down all of the celebrations and offerings that took place on Magic Kingdom’s 45th birthday. They also report on the new show “The Muppets Present… Great Moments in American History.”

Also on this episode you’ll hear a brief report of Derek’s trip with two first-timers, plus a special Halloween edition of the Mad Chatters Playlist. All that and more awaits on show 107. Tune in now!
