167: Glimmering, Shimmering, Carouselling – 46 Years of Magic Kingdom Parades

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls – The Mad Chatters proudly present our spectacular(ish) deep dive into Magic Kingdom’s many festival pageants of magic and imagination over the last 46 years. On this week’s show, special guest Aaron Wallace of Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Pod joins us for a detailed look at the parades, street parties, and cavalcades that have traveled down Main Street, U.S.A. since Magic Kingdom opened in 1971, from the grand opening parade to the most current spectacle, Festival of Fantasy. Come with us on a trip down memory lane as we discuss our favorite parade moments, floats, and soundtracks of the last 4-plus decades.

Also on episode 167, we share our picks for the good, bad, and ugly attraction loading areas at Walt Disney World. Plus, we each share one of our favorite hidden gems in the segment “It’s the Small Things, After All.” Tune in now!

105: Countdown to Parkstinction – WDW’s 25th Anniversary Celebration

With Walt Disney World turning 45 years old this weekend, we thought it would be fun to go back in time and take a look at one of Magic Kingdom’s biggest birthday celebrations of the past. As we discuss the park’s 25th anniversary, we take a closer look at the Remember the Magic Parade, Illuminations 25, and the infamous, love-it-or-hate-it Cakestle.

But first, we do a bit of Armchair Imagineering as we create our own ideas for how Walt Disney World and its guests should celebrate 45 years. Plus, we pen Love Letters to Disney. Strap in and hang on tight: this Time Rover is ready for departure!

46: Previewing the D23 Expo

Disney nerds . . . Assemble! On August 14-16, the fourth D23 Expo will be held in Anaheim, featuring special speakers (John Lasseter!), celebrity guests (Ellen DeGeneres? Chris Evans? George Lucas?), anniversary celebrations (Happy 20th, A Goofy Movie!), and informative panels on everything from Disney films to Disney parks to Disney’s earliest merchandise. On this week’s show, we preview some of the buzziest panels, talk about which ones we wish we could attend, and share our hopes for the big announcements that are bound to come out of the expo.

But first, in the segment The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, we critique the best and worst parade floats at Walt Disney World. Plus, we go another round of 11-Second Rants.

To connect with us, you can follow us on Twitter (@MadChatters) and Facebook (/madchatterspodcast) or send your feedback to comments@madchatters.net. We have the BEST listeners. Thanks for joining us each week!
