119: Looking Ahead to 2017

If the end of the year is for looking back, then the beginning of a new year is a time for looking forward, and that’s exactly what we do on this week’s episode as we break down the biggest events, films, and coming attractions of 2017. What has us excited about movies like Coco and Star Wars: Episode VIII? What are we most looking forward to when Pandora: The World of Avatar opens this summer? We discuss all that and more.

In another round of “Behind the Magic,” we turn our focus to an attraction that deals heavily with the theme of looking forward with hope: Spaceship Earth. We share our favorite details and scenes from this classic Epcot attraction.

Plus, we take a comical gaze into the future and predict what Walt Disney World will look like “In the Year 2071,” and we discuss our New Year’s Disney resolutions for 2017. Come kick off the new year with the latest episode of The Mad Chatters Podcast!

59: Let’s Talk About Epcot

“Epcot will be Disney World’s Least Visited Park by 2020.”

That was the headline from November 1 over on The Motley Fool. In the article, the author made some interesting points about Epcot’s growth (or lack thereof) in the last several decades. On episode 59, we discuss the article and give our own thoughts about Epcot, where it has been, and what needs to change going forward.

Also on this week’s show, we take a peek into the future of Walt Disney World in the segment “In the Year 2071.” Plus, we dish on the latest developments involving Pandora and Star Wars Land, we answer a listener’s question about the Disney Movie Club and vacationing with a large group, and more. Come join the conversation!

23: Animated Films in the Parks: 1937-1949

One of the charms of Walt Disney World is its ability to bring the Disney animated films to life right before your eyes. This week we focus on the films of the 1930s and 40s and talk about their representation (or lack thereof) in the four parks. We discuss the surprising number of nods to The Three Caballeros, as well as the disappointing lack of Bambi references.

We also chat about the many exciting changes going on at Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom, plus the beginning of the Flower and Garden Festival at Epcot.

In another Mad Chatter game, Matt and Derek go head to head in “Magic Kingdom By the Numbers.” All this and more can be heard on episode 23 of The Mad Chatters Podcast.
